History of Taragarh Fort – The majestic Taragarh Fort was constructed during the reign of King Ajaypal Chauhan in 1354. So, the past of this fort dates back to the 1300s and its grand architecture is wonderful evidence of their amazing architectural design that can leave anyone mesmerized. Settled on a steep hillside, Taragarh Fort offers a wonderful view of the city, especially during sunrise and sunset. It is one of the oldest forts in India.

 

Architecture of Taragarh Fort –Overall, there are three grand gateways that bind the Taragarh Fort namely, Phuta Darwaza, Laxmi Pol, and Gagudi ki Phatak. Unfortunately, today there are only ruins left to see. On visiting the fort, you will find a crisscross section of tunnels located within the fort that goes through the hillside. These tunnels were earlier used as a hideout to escape from the attack of enemies in the early days. As the fort is located on top of a hill, you can hike up to the fort to capture panoramic views of the city.
