About Pushkar –

A small town rich in bravery, selflessness, and mythical stories, Chittorgarh is a monument to the Rajput Kings' unwavering determination. The stunning Chittorgarh Fort is one of India’s biggest forts and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, without a doubt its focal point. The enormous fort covers an astonishing 700 acres and has a rich history that dates to the 7th century, perched atop a hill that is 180 meters high.

The fort is always associated with the courageous fight of Rajput Kings and the tragic Jauhar performed by the women of the Rajput clan to maintain their honor. It has witnessed several sieges, the most notable ones being Alauddin Khilji, Bahaddur Shah, and Akbar. The fort is a powerful symbol of Rajput pride and sacrifice due to the stunning interlacing of the histories of Rani Padmini, Maharana Pratap, and Meerabai.

There are several palaces, temples, towers, and reservoirs inside the fort’s impressive walls, each having a unique story to tell. Distance from Pushkar to Chittorgarh –

Pushkar and Chittorgarh are about 160 to 170 kms away by air. But the meandering Indian roads and the topography of the country ensure the road trip is easier and hassle-free. Depending on the exact route taken and any detours, the typical road distance between Pushkar and Chittorgarh is 200 to 220 kms. Taking into consideration of account typical driving speeds, possible traffic and a short stop or two, the trip takes 4 to 5 hours by a private taxi.

How to travel the distance?

There are various options to travel the distance from Pushkar to Chittorgarh:

By Private Taxi – It is the most common and flexible type of transportation. With Pushkar, you can hire a private taxi, offering you privacy, comfort, and the freedom to stop at scenic spots or for refreshments along the way. There are many neighbourhood travel agencies in Pushkar; the type of car and any negotiations will affect the price.

By Bus – Regular bus services between the state’s cities are run by Rajasthan Roadways RSRTC. Super deluxe buses do not travel directly from Pushkar to Chittorgarh, but you can often take buses that require a transfer, normally at Ajmer or Bhilwara. It is recommended to consult the latest bus schedules and routes at Ajmer or Pushkar.

By Train – Pushkar and Chittorgarh are not directly connected by train. Ajmer Junction is roughly 15 to 20 kms distant, the closest railway station to Pushkar. There are direct trains to Chittorgarh from Ajmer.  Train travel is a pleasant, often picture-perfect endeavour, especially when one opts for air-conditioned coaches.

Which is the best time to visit Pushkar and Chittorgarh?

The winter season, from October to March, is the best time to explore Pushkar and Chittorgarh. The climate is nice and pleasant for sightseeing. The best season to experience vibrant culture is during the Pushkar Camel Fair, usually in the months of October or November. Monsoon season from July to September can be harsh with heavy rains, and summers are too hot to go around for sightseeing.

Is a day trip from Pushkar to Chittorgarh feasible?

It would be extremely rushed and tiring to visit Chittorgarh and return to Pushkar. It is recommended to book an overnight stay in Chittorgarh and fully appreciate its historical importance and grandeur. There’s a 4 to 5 hour one-way travel distance, and the sheer size of Chittorgarh fort requires at least 4 to 5 hours.
